DANIEL PATRICK TRACEY was born in San Jose California in 1946.  Daniel had lived in Morgan Hill California since 1953, but has moved  to Reno, Nevada.   As retired police sergeant, and Vietnam veteran, and a graduated from Gavilan College, and the College Of Hard Knocks, Daniel has been painting for most of his life which he is essentially self taught.  His main theme of many of his painting represents the surrounding areas of Morgan Hill, and Santa Clara County, and particularly what it was like when he was a child growing up where prune, and walnut and other fruit trees abound.  Now, Daniel plans to paint the deserts of Nevada, and the Sierras to include in his theme.

He was also a charter member of the Valle del Sur Art Guild and was its president.
Daniel also was a charter member of the Gallery Morgan Hill.

"In my mind's eye, I envision an idea for a painting. I then take a blank canvas, and simply paint a horizon line. I quickly paint in other features such as shapes, and color. My painting then takes shape, and as it does, I picture myself in that painting, and by impulses, and what my original vision was, I then define the painting.   I call this technique, 'Subjective Impressionism.' When I do 'en plein air' painting, I paint in the tradition of California impressionism."

This painting was painted very near my home.  It's title is "Spring at Virginia Lake," and was painted quickly and is a good example of an 8x10 plein air painting.
